AB Since January 2005, new vaccines against pertussis, meningococcal disease, and human papillomavirus (HPV) infection have been licensed. The target recipients are adolescents and preadolescents, who are at higher risk of these infections than other age groups. Routinely scheduled visits for 11-to 12-year-olds will allow for immunization against these and other diseases and give us an opportunity to provide anticipatory guidance against high-risk behaviors.
