AB Although functional disability is common in elderly patients, physicians often overlook it or focus on acute illness, perhaps in part because they are unsure how to efficiently address the problem. A simple, stepwise protocol can be used in either an office or hospital setting to rapidly assess functional disabilities and identify potentially useful interventions.
