RT Journal Article SR Electronic T1 Osteoporosis: Which current treatments reduce fracture risk? JF Cleveland Clinic Journal of Medicine JO Cleve Clin J Med FD Cleveland Clinic SP 701 OP 703 VO 67 IS 10 A2 Wilke, William S. A1 Baram, Daniel T. YR 2000 UL http://www.ccjm.org/content/67/10/701.abstract AB Randomized controlled trials showed that several antiosteoporosis drugs decrease the incidence of fractures, which is a better measure of efficacy than are changes in bone mineral density or serum markers of bone turnover. With effective agents available, physicians should make osteoporosis treatment a priority, especially for patients at high risk, such as those who have already had a fracture.
