Currently available treatment modalities have prolonged patient survival and in most instances improved the quality of life. However, patients with chronic renal failure are prone to pericardial, myocardial, valvular, and coronary artery disease; 60% of deaths in patients undergoing chronic hemodialysis are the result of cardiovascular disease. This paper reviews the cardiovascular abnormalities common to patients with chronic renal failure.
