AB Asymptomatic left ventricular dysfunction should be treated as an early stage on the continuum that is chronic heart failure. The author presents the clinical trial data on which current management with angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors and beta-blockers is based. Issues surrounding screening are also discussed.
