AB  - Paraesophageal hernias are typically associated with symptoms and can sometimes lead to life-threatening complications. We recommend laparoscopic surgical repair for patients with symptomatic paraesophageal hernias. This article explains why and presents a general overview of the laparoscopic repair of para-esophageal hernias and its merits relative to open surgical repair.
