AB Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy affects people of all ages, and with the advent of echocardiography, it is being recognized more frequently. Death is usually sudden and unexpected. Factors reviewed that may play a role in sudden death include anatomic, hemodynamic, and electrophysiologic mechanisms. The results of medical and surgical treatment are also discussed.
