AB Atherosclerosis is largely preventable in women. Clinicians need to appreciate the gender-associated risks of cardiovascular disease and emphasize to their women patients that life-style changes can reduce cardiovascular risk. However, newer oral agents for diabetes and the statins for hyperlipidemia are important pharmacological adjuncts.
