    The first reports on the use of noninvasive fluoroscopy for detecting coronary calcium appeared in the 1960s.84,85 More than a score of articles were published that showed fair to good diagnostic accuracy compared to the coronary angiogram.86–116 There was a surge of interest in this aspect that culminated in the late 1980s with a meta-analysis117 and the development of 2 modifications that increased sensitivity and accuracy.118,119
