ABSTRACT

In Alzheimer disease, therapies to improve the core symptoms and perhaps even slow disease progression include cholinesterase inhibitors, receptor agonists, anti-inflammatory drugs, and antioxidants. Neuroleptics, antiepileptics, and nondrug approaches are used to control and relieve complications such as delusions, hallucinations, paranoia, and agitated behavior. We outline a practical approach to the use of these therapies.
