Authors & Reviewers
Cleveland Clinic Journal of Medicine (CCJM) values the contribution of our authors and peer reviewers in service of our mission to meet the continuing medical education needs of general internists, cardiologists, and other medical subspecialists and to provide practical information on new developments in the diagnosis and treatment of patients encountered in daily practice by addressing topics of interest to practicing internists.
CCJM uses Editorial Manager for online manuscript submission, peer review, author revisions, and correspondence.

Reviewer Instructions
Peer review is essential to maintain the quality and relevance of articles published by CCJM. Please keep the following goals in mind as you review articles:
- Provide timely, peer-reviewed updates to internists and cardiologists on advances in the diagnosis and treatment of common medical problems
- Content and style should be similar to that of a CME presentation aimed at generalists rather than specialists, with a minimum of jargon and an emphasis on clinical points
- Target length for most articles is 3,000 to 3,500 words (not counting tables, references, and figures), with no more than 50 references.
No need to proofread—All accepted manuscripts will undergo stylistic editing by our professional medical-editing staff. Thus, we are not requesting that you review grammar and syntax, but please do note any incorrect spelling of specialized jargon or drug names, since these may escape our spell-checking.
Subspecialist reviewers (reviewers with special interest and expertise in the topic of the manuscript)
- Please focus on the clinical and scientific accuracy of the manuscript, noting when controversial points are stated as “fact.”
General internal medicine reviewers
- We ask that general internal medicine reviewers address whether the manuscript is appropriately directed to internists, and if the topic is relevant to internal medicine practice
- If there are any questions you would like to ask the author after reading the article, please note these on your evaluation. It is only in this way that we can maximize the teaching value of CCJM.
